BUILDING BRIDGES TO IMMIGRANT FAMILIES

As immigration continues to increase and the United States becomes even more diverse, the Child Support Enforcement Program needs to be prepared and positioned to build bridges to the newest Americans - the immigrant families. This session will focus on developing outreach and effective communication strategies to develop partnerships between the Child Support Enforcement Program and increasingly diverse immigrant families.

Program Specialist, Federal Office of Child Support Administration for Children and Families, Office of Child Support Enforcement, Division of Policy, Washington, DC
 
Rodríguez is a program specialist with the Federal Office of Child Support in the Division of Policy.  She serves as a member of the OCSE Hispanic Workgroup and assisted in developing the outreach materials available on the Hispanic toolkit DVD.  Prior to joining the Department of Health and Human Services, Rodríguez provided social services to children and families in Los Angeles County and assisted non-profit organizations with grant development and community organizing.
 
Estela  Estela Rivera
Executive Director, Human Resources Administration, New York, NY 
 
Rivera has over 15 years of public service experience with New York City in various capacities and currently serves as the Executive Director of Borough Office Operations for New York City's Office of Child Support Enforcement since 2007. In 2009, she assumed the added responsibility for the oversight of Central Court Services.  In her current position, Ms. Rivera manages all associated child support processes for the Cash Assistance population from intake to court outcomes.

Amina Costello  Amina Costello
Child Support Officer, Hennepin County Child Support, Minneapolis, MN
 
Costello works as a Child Support Officer in Hennepin County, Minneapolis, Minnesota. She currently works on Somali paternity cases. Costello's responsibilities include educating clients about establishing legal paternity for the child, attending court hearing, interviewing clients, and helping clients conduct genetic testing. She is a member in Client Information Session (CIS) committee and IVA/IVD committee.
